Overtime Pay

Made it in three times this week. Tuesday afternoon the air temp was 40F but the wind made it feel frigid. The hard ice / snow pack made the walking so difficult that I only did a once-through. – Saw a black squirrel, the first in some time. Also, saw the red tail hawk and a smaller type glide through the dingle.

On Wednesday, the wind let up, which made the experience more pleasant and I got a full walk in. As happens, my red tail was sitting on a branch above “Russia Cove,” and allowed me this close-up.

Overnight, about four inches of fresh snow fell, no biggie, since warming was predicted and rain on the way. The city didn’t bother to plow my street, which seemed sensible.

Guess what? When I got to the park this afternoon, Sunday, – the park department had paid workers overtime to clear a few inches of snow that would have melted anyway.  Again, precious revenue squandered, and more pollutants added.
